51% of LGBT Adults Report Skipping or Postponing Health Care in the Past Year Because of Cost

Many LGBT adults find health care services unaffordable.

View in browser NEW & NOTEWORTHY Half of LGBT Adults Report Skipping or Postponing Health Care in the Past Year Because of Cost  Recent and possible changes in U.S. health policy could make health care more unaffordable for many Americans, including those who are LGBT (a group with lower incomes and higher rates of Medicaid coverage than non-LGBT people). Amid these changes, KFF polling finds that half (52%) of LGBT adults say they have difficulty affording health care, and a similar share (51%) say they've skipped or delayed needed care because of cost. Comparatively, 43% of non-LGBT adults report difficulty affording health care and, one-third (34%) report skipping or postponing health care they needed in the last year.
